What is Hearing Protection Fit Testing?
Hearing protection fit testing verifies that your workforce’s earplugs or earmuffs provide the correct level of protection against workplace noise exposure.
Our skilled technicians test each worker’s hearing protection equipment (HPE) in combination with their unique ear shape, size, and work environment, ensuring a safe and effective fit.
FitTick’s HPE testing supports businesses across a wide range of industries, helping reduce workplace noise risks and maintain compliance with Australian Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations.
Why is Hearing Protection Fit Testing Important?
Protect Workforce Health & Safety
Proper fit testing reduces the risk of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) - one of the most common occupational hazards.
Compliance with OH&S Regulations
Australian Standards require regular hearing protection assessments to maintain compliance and meet workplace safety obligations.
Risk Management
Identify incorrectly fitted or damaged HPE early, reduce non-compliance risks, and ensure your workforce is protected.
Suitable for Any Industry
From construction and mining to manufacturing and healthcare, our tailored fit testing solutions help meet the demands of high-noise industries.
How FitTick Conducts Hearing Protection Fit Testing
Our efficient testing process takes approximately 10 minutes per person and ensures accurate, consistent results across all tests.
Assess noise exposure, medical conditions, and confirm the correct HPE model used in the workplace.
Our expertly trained technicians guide workers through correct insertion or adjustment for a secure fit.
Noise attenuation levels are measured using specialised equipment and repeated tests.
Each participant receives feedback and advice. A full report is provided to the employer for compliance records.
Inhouse, mobile pop-up and mobile pop-up booth

In-house
We offer In-house testing at our office in Adelaide, South Australia.

Mobile Testing Booth
Please provide a suitable parking area for our mobile testing booth. While the testing environment is controlled, high dust levels such as from nearby manufacturing plants can impact test accuracy.

Mobile Pop-Up
Onsite
For onsite testing, we require a lockable room or office (approx. 20sqm) in a quiet, clean area with at least two power points, a table, and two chairs. Avoid offices near dust or airborne contaminants, as they can affect test results.
Offsite
We’ll set up a testing facility close to your worksite or in a convenient location for your workforce (e.g. CBD). Please ensure employees are informed that the test will be conducted offsite.
Prepare for Your Hearing Protection Fit Test

Bring your current workplace earplugs or earmuffs (optional)
Avoid loud noise exposure for at least one hour prior to testing
Advise our technician of any known hearing conditions

FitTick securely stores all test results and provides immediate reports for employers.
Every participant who passes will receive a FitTick Card – proof of compliance, complete with testing dates and retest reminders.
